I was getting married in January. My parents were buying us our kitchen set as part of my bridal shower gift, so back in the end of November (the Saturday after Thanksgiving), I went into Island Dinnette in Farmingdale to order my kitchen table. I had seen a table on the floor that I had loved, but it was black. I had told the women there that this is the exact style/size that I was looking for, but that I needed it in brown (since the kitchen in our new apartment is brown). She looked in the book and found that it came in black and in brown.
Of course, like everyone, I was leary about ordering it without seeing it. She showed me a much bigger table and I was told that this would be the color. It was perfect. We ordered it, and was told it should take 6-8 weeks.
Well, almost 12 weeks later and back from our honeymoon w/out a kitchen table, we were still waiting. FINALLY, it came in, and was delivered on February 14th. However, it was gray.
When we had contacted customer service and the store (John and Patrick), we were asked to bring a chair in so that they can see the exact color. As soon as they saw the chair, they said that it was the wrong finish. Every salesman in the store said that it was wrong, "not even close" to be specific. They said it should be more into the brown-family and that this was defintely gray. What a relief because I had went out and bought all kitchen accessories in the brown family.
We were told that with the holiday (Presidents Day), we would have to wait until Tuesday the 17th. (they kept the chair) They never called us, nor did they return any of our phone calls. We called the store directly, and tried to deal with customer service. All we got was the runaround.
Finally, today (2/24), we spoke with someone. We were told now that it is the right finish and that this particular table only comes in black and earthtone/gray. So, what I want to know is why now has the story changed? And now I'm stuck with a table that does not match my kitchen or anything else that I bought.
I am extremely upset and angry. We will be going into the store tonight to pick up the chair of ours that they have, and I will let them know of my complete and utter dissatification.
I will not recommend them to anyone.in fact, I will discourage people from going there. I will make sure they know of this problem, so that even if they considered going to Island Dinnet for their kitchen table needs, they will think twice about it. It's really a shame, because my family has used them before in the past.
