Last Christmas I bought several gifts from Wal Mart and requested gift receipts for the items in case any of them had to be exchanged or returned. The check out Clerk assured me that full paid price would be given if any item was returned.
One item was not given out, so I returned the $15 item a couple of days after Christmas. I had the gift receipt and was shocked when Wal Mart would only give me $7.50 for the item. After complaining for an hour or so, I was finally able to retreive the full amount from one of the Managers.
I complained to the local consumer reporter about the problem I had and he decided to check it out. He bought items with gift receipts, returned them and was ripped off for almost 50% of the cost of the items he returned (filmed it on hidden camera) using the "gift receipts".
Senator Boxer heard about it and called it stealing during her tv interview.
I would like to know how many of you (readers) have either used or received a "gift receipt" with a gift purchased from any Wal Mart and after returning it, knew it or felt that you did not receive the full price paid for the gift. Thank you.
