I don't do much online reading and surfing, but finding this website was quite an exception to the rule to say the least. I'm glad I came upon this site, as I am also an "on-hold" cingular wireless customer. I've read through just about every complaint and need I write further... Every complaint I read through was basically why I initially came upon this site. From the excessive hidden fees to outrageous "additional" charges for going over the maximum allowed minutes to extremely poor customer service in addition to insurmountable and inconsistent billing errors... This company needs to be put out of business as far as I'm concerned.

In brief, during the 1st 6 months of billing, it took 2 weeks to actually get the phone to work properly, 6 more weeks (after getting the 1st bill) to get that first bill (along with the 2nd bill) readjusted (as we were put on the wrong plan). During the readjustment period, while waiting for our new bill, our phone was shut off because of non-payment. We called 4 times and were sent to an automated answering service that had prompts to get us to the next feature and then the next and eventually put on hold for, I would say, about anywhere from 15-45 minutes. Once we thought we were going to be connected... We were disconnected. When we finally did get connected, that process alone took about another 45 minutes to 1.5 hour's total. It has been like a major surgical a procedure just getting through the customer service and getting things straightened out. But beware; just when you think you've got it right... Don't fall over when you get the next bill. When we got our bill, again, we noticed that no matter what you say or how you say it to cingular's customer service reps (at least the ones that we dealt with) they just didn't get it. You'd think we were speaking in tongues or another language to them. To save us further frustration, we've decided to do the "big pay-off" and get ourselves away from Cingular. But, I must say in doing so... How on earth did Cingular ever manage to fly with it! Good customer service and business management skills (along with ethics) are like a no brainer.

Tonight I just called to make arrangements on paying them off ($500.00 including the outrageous disconnect fees... Get a load of that too)! In speaking with some Rep (from a Texas collection service for Cingular number 972.323.3700) we were barely on the phone for 2 minutes. I explained that I was unaware of all the additional fees/charges and she became intolerable and abrupt yelling "you need to pay your bill". When I barely had a chance to ask about the disconnect fee, she interrupted yelling "did you look at the contract when you signed up ma'am... Did you read the contract ma'am, you should have read the contract ma'am... You need to pay the bill". I said when I signed up; there was no agreement/contract to be read, as I did this over the phone. I was never told about these extra fees while signing up over the phone and that I was not calling to argue, just need to set up a payment arrangement. She yelled again and then hung up on me. Lovely! Just lovely!

Cingular wireless has the worse customer service than any company I have ever dealt with. Their billing department needs to have a little bit more class/tact and a better resolution than hanging up on someone. I have no idea where that Rep got her skills, but she needs to go back to where ever she came from and re-learn them (in a more professional way)! Bottom line, when it comes to the hidden fees, scams and lies they tell to cover up their poor services and billing errors, they really should be put out of business as far as I'm concerned.
