Ripoff Fraudulent Billing SBC is fraudulently charging me for services I didn't have and they have been patient with me! Illinois

I signed up with SBC on June 01. I have 2 active lines in my apartment and I wanted both lines activated. After many frustrating attemps with SBC they finally got my main line working on 6/26/03.

For the second line I had to fight with the terrible company for 5 months! The secondary line had a private and personal line working in my apartment from someone elses apartment from accoss town! The second line was activated in someone elses home! In other words some one else's phone was active in my house at the same time it was active in her house. I could listen to her private phone conversations, make long distance calls on her phone if I wanted to, I could see on the caller ID who was calling her, and I could have done any number of things to invade her privacy!

I had to beg and plead for SBC to finally turn off her phone in my house and connect my own line. Finally on October 16 my own second line was working. However, during this time (from June 26 to December 1) I had to fight with SBC EVERY month to take off DSL charges! Every month they charged me for DSL! I never had DSL, I don't want DSL and I didn't even ask about DSL!

At one point SBC even felt the need to charge me for cancelling my DSL which brought up my bill to $285.00!! A representative from SBC (Sue) called me and told me to please ignore that bill and I did just that. During all this time (Every month for 6 months) SBC had to make adjustments off my bill for the DSL. Everytime I received my bill and it had fraudulent charges on it they adjusted it. Suddently in November I got a final notice for $50.66! If I didn't pay this amount I would be shut off on Dec. 1.

I called SBC and they could not tell exactly what the charge was! Only that I had to pay it! Even worse SBC had the nerve to tell me that THEY have been patient with me by making so many adjustments! Patient with me?!

SBC is fraudulently charging me for services I didn't have and they have been patient with me! I have paid what ever they have told me to pay and now suddently I am over due?! I have written letters to the CEO (Ed Whitacker) explaing the situation and nothing has happened. I have complained to Illinois Commerce Commission and NOTHING has been done to correct the situation! I had and have ZERO controll over bad and fraudulent billing! I am asking for a detailed bill on how and why I am $50.66 pass due and they refuse to back up their claim.

On Saturday Jan. 10 I have recieved a nasty letter from SBC stating that if I don't pay their (fraudulent) charge then I will go to collections. They expect me to pay my hard earned money on their word with NO documentation!

It's a terrible company with fraudulent practices.
