PROS: moderate savings if you're spending a fortune
CONS: $6k membership, pushy salesmen, cheesy salespitch, contract trap
I also went to DirectBuy 's "open house", which was a disaster. Cheesy high-pressure salesman, flawed logic, a stupid sales pitch, and just a very uncomfortable closing. I went along with the presentation, which was a regurgitation of a memorized script, until the last minute when the salesman thought he had me on the hook and reached over to shake my hand, meaning "we have a deal", that's when I told him NO and he almost fell back in his chair.
Anyways the membership might make sense if you're planning on spending $50k plus in the immediate future, and then it looks like it will take a lot of time to get your stuff with painful mistakes (according to other reviewers).
The only thing it seems these guys care about is the sales pitch and getting you to pay the $6k membership right then and there. After that you're on your own. The sales pitch is very pushy, first they try to get all personal with you before the presentation, then make you watch a cheesy video, coming in every 5 minutes and spewing you a rehearsed pitch. It just didn't feel right, and it seemed everyone who works there has some sort of personal issues. Just weird people. Remember the advice, if someone is very pushy trying to get your money, walk away, because after you do you’ll realize your mistake but it will be too late.
