I have been a customer of DirecTV for over eight years, I moved to a new location. And as directed left behind the reciever dish and carried the reciever with me to the new location. I called to get the service at the new address connected. A tech came to my house and installed the dish also he brought a new reciever and installed it. My old reciever was perfectly fine, He said he was told to install the reciever he brought with him. He did not want the old reciever and did not take it with him. It has been sitting in my closet since he installed the new one. A year went by and I elected to change providers, I was told that I had an 18 month contract and would have to pay 40 dollar early disconnect fee. I asked to talk to a supervisor, She told me that I had been paying for the old box since my move plus the new box that extended my contract. Upon further search she told me that the disconnect fee was in error, and that I could disconnect my service without a disconnect fee. So I disconnected my service and paid closing bill. Then I recieved a bill from DirecTV for a early disconnect fee. Upon calling again I was told that the bill was valid and now I owed for the cancellation fee. I tried to talk to someone in the United States and was told to keep calling untill someone in the United States answers as they could not give me a phone no#. I still have not resolved this billing and obviously to me I cannot talk to anyone in the United States for this company. You were probably not aware of this. Try to contact anyone from billing at DirecTV and you will get someone from the Phillipines or another country. Be aware they have access to all of your billing info and the laws in there area are not the same as ours. I am and would be concerned about idinity theft? I also asked for a copy of anything I signed and was told that it was verbal, and no contract could be sent to me. Check this out for yourself. Bo
