At approximately 5:15 P.M. On Friday, November 5 I called American Home Shield home warranty company to report a sewer blockage in my home. I had a similar problem in January. At that time, AHS was unable to locate a plumber with whom they contracted in my city. After a great deal of argument, they finally authorized me to go outside their "system", hire a plumber to clear the blockage, and reimbursed me for the bill minus my $60 deductible. Yesterday, however, in spite of talking with four of their employees in their "customer service" department, they refused to allow me to contact a plumber outside their list of approved vendors to have the blockage cleared. Between the time of my initial call and approximatgely 6:40 P.M. On November 5, I spoke with "Jasmine", "Kim", "Carla" and "Lesander" (SP). The last person I spoke with told me it was "not within their guidelines" to authorize emergency repairs. I have used American Home Shield three times since I first purchased my policy in June. Each time I have had to argue with them to get repairs done. I strongly suggest anyone who needs to purchase a home warranty find another company. This company's customer service is totally lacking.
