August 3, I slipped and fell in the WalMart Super Center in Okeechobee, Florida, when shopping with my granddaughter, which was due to a flower display with water everywhere; I suffered a fractured hip; three exrays and one Orthopedic Surgeon confirmed the fracture; 6-8 weeks of therapy with remaining therapy to be as home therapy; demand has been made for compensation to me and my husband for loss of domestic services and consortium, but because I continued to work and my employer's insurance company spent less than $1500.00 on doctor, hospital and therapy bills.
Walmart doesn't feel the claim is worth paying; we are still in negotiaion; I have tried to do this in a Christian way by being thankful my injuries were not life-threathening, but I still grope with pain and suffering for over a year and am certain it will continue for some time to come; I cannot find an attorney who will tackle Walmart; I have contacted four with no success; do any past employees have any input on successes that other victims have had; a class action lawsuit would be a wonderful tool against them; while I see news articles of spending $7.2 million and $5.6 million for additional land in my South Florida areas for new stores.
There is no compensation for those injured and at the mercy of Walmart; I wrote to two Senior Exec's at Walmart in Arkansas referring to the large spending in Florida, but no reponse as yet. Between the injuries of shoppers, immigrants and other illegal workers, poor working conditions and no overtime pay, discrimination, etc, is it any wonder Walmart can't pay a cent? Their ads are deceptive and false and the Feds need to look into this and take action. Any suggestions?
