So we hired Karen based on the glowing recommendation from a friend. Karen shows up, we sign the contract on a Tuesday. She says that shell drop the sign for the front yard, the lockbox, etc. For us over the weekend. She doesnt show until the following Wednesday (because she was too busy partying over the weekend according to her Facebook page), hands us the sign and asks us to put it up in the front yard because she didnt want to get her shoes muddy.
We have to hound her to get feedback on the house (and I mean she wouldnt return calls, etc.). We did ALL the staging for the sale of the house, no input or help from her. We put in the offer on the other house (the house we bought) and couldnt get information from her about what was going on.
The week before closing, everything BLEW UP. Karen messed up royally on the estimated net proceeds sheet (which tells us after all the costs are paid how much we are expected to walk away with) by missing over $1300 of expenses (she marked on the Estimated Net Proceeds list that we had paid our taxes already when taxes are paid in arrears - this is why we paid for a realtor, to cover these sorts of things). We based ALL of our decisions on selling the house on that sheet, including giving $2000 to the buyers for part of their closing costs.
The Friday before closing, Karen leaves for Australia for a week and a half. She told us two days before she left that she wouldnt be there for closing. I approach Karen about her error after she gets back, how we had to jump through hoops to prove where the additional money came from for closing on the new house, how we had to pull that money out of our new house fix-up account, etc. She said that she would take care of it and we would settle on something fair for both of us. She also was supposed to handle the buying end (this house), and close up all the contract details (the seller didnt bring everything to closing that he was supposed to), but she didnt care and let that be known.
We've e-mailed her repeatedly, she responds whenever she gets around to it, and shes stopped returning phone calls from us. Weve even extended the invitation for her to come out the week after closing (and a couple of times since then) to see all the work that weve done on the house, she said she would call before she came out she never called and never came out. So she basically took her commission money and ran. Shes shoddy, unprofessional, doesnt keep her word, isnt responsive, and only cares about the bottom line for her.
