After Direct TV marketed our business based on a lie told by a Cleveland based marketing company, we have had not one, not two, but three service calls to our home to adjust our satellite reception.
Two of these service calls were directly related to Our HD service being out and needing realigned. The last technician at our home told me he spotted the problem upon pulling into our driveway. He told us that the reason our HD was going out so frequently is due to the fact that our dish only had one "support" bracket as opposed top the necessary two that was required. Upon installing a second bracket, he assured me that I would have no further problems.
With this information, I contacted Direct TV customer service to attempt to have the service call change credited to my account. After getting nowhere, I asked to have my issue escalated and desired to file a complaint. Upon getting the "shift supervisor" the only recourse available to me was to purchase their "protection plan" on a yearly basis as to not have to pay for these future visits. Of course, I was outraged and using terms such as extortion, etc. For the fact that I had to pay Direct TV additional monies to ensure that the service that I am already paying them for will work properly. I also told the shift supervisor that the decision that they make at this moment towards me as their customer will directly decide who gets my business come January.
They really did not care and told me that if I am not happy they can cancel my account right now or I can purchase the protection plan. Those were my only two options. Needless to say, I cannot wait until January.
Also as an important side note as fate would have it, my next door neighbor (sorry to say) had Direct TV installed a week later and guess what? Their dish had two brackets. Go figure.
Please do yourself a big favor and save yourself a great deal of misery from the beigining. Do NOT give this company your business.
If you get a marketing call from Direct TV, PLEASE hang up as quicly as possible.
