I am getting so frustrated with the GREED of SBC (formerly SNET in CT. Ever since SBC took over ownership of SNET in my state, their prices have skyrocketed, their collection practices have become rude, their reputation has gone downhill and they have begun to charge a fee for EVERY SINGLE thing they can possibly charge for!
I thought I was fed up with them before but now I want to make everyone aware that if you have SBC and you cannot pay your bill in full every month, and you DO NOT call them to tell them that you need to make a payment arrangement (That they will ULTIMATELY not accept anyways) then they will send out a TERMINATION NOTICE and CHARGE YOUR BILL $15.00 to do so. They will do this EVERY TIME they send a notice to you!
That is RIDICULOUS and GREEDY! $15.00 for a piece of paper??!!
I called SBC to inquire about this new practice and I found out that if I make a partial payment toward my bill, I will STILL be sent a notice and still be charged the 15.00 fee because I didnt make a full payment!
This is SO UNFAIR to those of us (and we number in the MILLIONS!) who are unemployed, on social security or disability or who work 40 hours a week but still cannot afford to pay every bill in full every month! If we cannot pay our bill in full every month and do the best we can to send SOMETHING to pay on our bill, why does SBC think that charging us 15.00 MORE every month will help us to be able to pay our entire bill, every month??!!
This is GREED, plain and simple!
I would really like to file a complaint with the Dept. Of Public Utilities in CT and if this is a practice being done to others in other states, I would like for all of us to file complaints and get this charge rescinded. PLEASE! (in CT and elsewhere) I am NOT a laywer, but I am an intelligent person and I think I can figure out what will need to be done to approach SBC and the DPUC about this new "harassment charge" from a mutli-billion dollar company.
Together we can make a difference... Let yourself be heard!"
thank you!
