We signed up for the "MCI Neighborhood" as per their call that advertised $19.99 Local & Long Distance calling. However, after receiving and going over the Welcome to The Neighborhood packet I found that my first expected bill would be more like $45.00 not $19.99.
I called them at 888-624-5622 and got a very pleasant customer service rep (Lisa). She explained a lot to me and eliminated the $5.95 monthly charge for LD calling. This $5.95, and the associated $. 09 / minute LD charge were NOT as per the marketing callers presentation. These charges should have been, according to their call, as per our current MCI LD plan which was $3.95 / $. 07 per minute. Personally, I use SAMS calling cards or my cell phone which are a lot less expensive
I let her know that I would be MCI Neighborhoods toughest (and most polite) customer and that I would be on their case until I either get a bill that is close to my expectations OR until I get rid of the neighborhood because they did not live up to my expectations. I am waiting for my first bill that will not go un-noticed or un-challenged.
A major suggestion: Read their Welcome to The Neighborhood packet completely, otherwise you may be in for a big surprise when you receive your first bill. Remember: An educated consumer is the best customer / dont believe the marketing hype.
