Do not be fooled by the professional website nor the low bid offered by Eli Transport.in my opinion, this company is in business to scam people.
My daughter moved from one state to another, and I was there when the furniture was picked up.instead of using moving blankets as suggested in the contract, they shrink wrapped her furniture, put it in the truck, then informed us that would be an additonal charge of $450 in shrink wrap alone. Other unreasonable packing supplies ran up the bill even more. All said and done, the move was almost double the original quote.
Even worse, the furniture was delivered on a Sunday, and when the truck arrived to unpack, they demanded another $490 in Long Carry charges. (I have documentation of this). The apartment building is new and has an unloading dock for moving trucks. Because her belonginging were put in a 18 wheel semi, they claimed the truck could not use the loading -unloading dock, so before they would unload, they needed to pay the additional $490. All that could be taken from the ATM (on a Sunday) was $200, so in order to get our furniture, we were told we had to help with the move. (we were in transit, so her roommate had to help with the move). Otherwise, they would either leave it on the street or take it to storage for an additonal charge and redelivery charge. I had specifically asked when they picked up the furniture, if there could possibly be any other charges on the delivery and I was told absolutely not.
These companies know you have no other choice, but to pay them or you may never see your furntiture again. This is how they are able to do this repeatedly.
On top of that, we were overcharged on the move, through a math error (odd, huh) and only received half of the replacement cost for the broken coffee table glass. The bed and tables were suppose to be reassembled, according to the contract, but that was not done either.
I wrote a letter to the owner with no avail. They don't care because they make a business out of scammming, in my opinion. I know of other worse stories with this company, so my advice to you, is do your homework, get a recommendation from a reliable van line and under NO circumstances use Eli Transport. You WILL live to regret it. Since we were unable to get back the long carry fees and extreme packing charges, my only recourse with this company is to warn others.
