Had a water leak of unknown origin leaking from 2nd story into the garage. Contacted F. Am. H.W. And they sent a plumber. He said the leak was in the shower valve and he fixed it.
Based upon his assessment, I let the water damage repair folks go to work and they repaired the water damage—damage that took more than a week to fix. The day after they were done, all the same damage reoccurred—the leak was NOT fixed.
I called some contractor buddies from church and with their help, discovered the leak was in the shower enclosure itself. The water damage folks went to work and again it took more than a week to repair it all and it cost $2500. The shower enclosure I fixed on my dime as I knew it was one of the many items F. Am. H.W. Doesn't cover.
I presented the bill to FAmHW and all they could do is repeat, like a mantra, they don't cover secondary damages or shower enclosures. They couldn't bring themselves to address the fact that the secondary damages were a direct result of the misdiagnosis by the plumber they hired. They suggested that if I had further questions or concerns, I could go after the plumber. I had a contract with First American, NOT the plumber they hired!
Had the plumber they hired not led me to believe the leak was fixed, I wouldn't have had the water damage folks repair the damage and not have had to rehire them to fix the next leak.
This company does NOT stand by their word, appears to hire those whose work is shoddy and couldn't recommend them to anybody but Bin Laden.
