I purchased an air bed from Air Beds Unlimited, LLC in Colorado on 8/26/09 for $1,729 via MC with a 30 day free money back test. It took over 3 weeks for the bed to arrive. We researched on the web and thought they had a good product and advertised the 30 night test of the bed.
The very first night after we received the bed and then set it up, my wife and I slept very little and I had strong back pain the next day. We called the company and were told it has to BREAK IN. We tried everything we could to make it comfortable. Before the end of the 30 days with numerous calls and emails to try to make it work, we had no option but to return the bed. We were issued an RMA that states we had to return the bed within 7 days (when I emailed for the RMA I told them I would be out of the country for 10 days). Now this is a fairly big item and cannot ship UPS. My wife had to re-box the bed and accessories, weight them and get dimensions. We called for a freight pick-up. They did not pick it up when scheduled. We called again and this time got a BOL and pick-up which did not happen again. When we contacted the air bed company we were told that the bed was not returned within the 7 days and they would not extend the time even by one day and that the RMA has expired and if we did return the bed it would be declined.
I do not believe that a 7 day validity for return should be legal. Shipping to Colorado for a bed of this size could take a week to 10 days itself.in fact it took almost 2 weeks for the bed to ship here (shipping time only)! This 30 day trial also charges $75 to return it as well as paying for return shipping. They told us that they would not even extend beyond the 7 days by even one day would not be accepted. Is this something a reputable and customer service oriented company would do? We live in a very rural area and getting a freight pick-up is not always easy or timely.
Obviously we have a lot more details as well as receipts and emails (some I believe rude and condescending). I am a disabled vet and all I wanted was a comfortable bed to sleep in! Never heard of a bed that is severely uncomfortable, but has to be broken in!
