Ripoff misleading "climate control"water damage mildew poor maintenance of property abused & mistreated theft of belongings lack of response time

Hello All Public Storage Victims,

Less than 1 month ago, I moved all my belongings (except for some cloths and some personal items) to Public Storage. I was, at first, very pleased with the company. It's the largest "self-storage" company ("customer service friendly"), and the front desk clerk was very friendly.

In less than a week, I returned to my unit to find an item I needed. To my surprise, there was WATER on my dining room table. I had other costly items on that table.

The very next day I contacted the property site and spoke with a young lady and told her what I saw.instead of, at least, apologizing, she immediately said I had signed an agreement stating Public Storage is not responsible for any damage. She proceeded to tell me someone would get back with me in about 1 1/2 weeks. No one EVER contacted me!

TWO weeks later, I call the site to try and speak with someone. I received a voice prompted message. Everytime I would press 1 or 2, I would either get a busy signal or be disconnected. I was NEVER able to leave a message. Finally, I dialed the number again and didn't press anything. Customer Service came on the line.

I explained my situation to Customer Service. The lady also tried to call the property to no avail. She gave me the District Manager's phone number. I left a message on his voice mail. That same night, a representative from the property called me to inform me that my lock was not on my unit properly. I went to the unit immediately and saw my television was stolen. I obtained a police report and the officer told me it looked like an inside job. There were evident foot prints on me television stand.

Two days later, the roofers "just happen" to be at the site inspecting the roof. I was called all of the sudden to go to the site to give roofers acces. I dropped everything to go. I gave them access and assisted them in finding the spot on the roof to check. Immediately! They found the leak! It took a matter of 5 maybe 10 minutes to find the leak!

Remember, I contacted Public Storage 2 weeks prior. Why didn't they get roofers there sooner? I have so much water and mildew damage! They did not even offer me another unit when I first called about the water damage. They said since I didn't purchase the insurance, they are not liable... Is it the customers responsibility to make sure the roof isn't leaking??? No... It is not! I am quite sure Public Storage has a thing called INSURANCE! ANY business, big or small, would cover themselves for situations such as this.

I do NOT and will NOT recommend Public Storage to ANYONE! You are better off paying $25 a month for "non climate control" anywhere else rather than $85 a month for "climate control at Public Storage."

A company of this size ought to have better customer service.
