There is No Customer Service Anymore

Target could care a less about their customers I was an avid fan of shopping at Target until today. Over the last week, I made several purchases from Target amounting to over $300.00. During my last purchase, I realized that some of the clearance items that I purchased were marked down even more. For example, I purchased several shirts for my daughter that were marked down another $2.00 each. The total additional savings would have been maybe $10 to $ 15 dollars, if that. Upon me returning to the store with the receipts to obtain an adjustment, I was told that they would not give price adjustments on clearance items. I asked the clerk could I bring them back, return them and re-purchase the items, and I was told, no, we will mark them out and send them back; they will not go back on the racks for sale. I asked the clerk to clarify this and say - ok so Target would rather have an upset customer, rather than provide a $10.00 to $15.00 price adjustment, and I was told, this is our policy. I asked for the corporate number, 1-800-440-0680. When I called the number, I was told the same thing from a customer service agent - (joke) that this is our policy. I explained that I was upset, and I wanted to hear this policy from a manager because I could not believe that they rather lose a customer who spends on average at least $100.00 a week at Target. The customer service agent told me that was my choice and my decision and I could chose if I did not want to shop at Target anymore. I asked to speak with a manager and was told because it was Sunday there was no manager available. I then asked her to have a manager call back on Monday, and she told me that a manager would not call me back, that if I wanted to speak to a manager I would have to call back on Monday myself. I was astonished and asked again for her to have a manager call me back - to which her reply was I gave you a choice, and if you want to speak to a Manager you will need to call back on Monday. (I should have realized from that point that this was a lost cause and Target could care a less - they think I am a little fish). I did not call back on Monday, thinking that a manager would call me back, but no manager called. I decided to call back on Tuesday. On Tuesday the person that answered the phone (she never identified her title,), asked me for my phone number. When she looked up the file she proceed to tell me that she was sorry that I was upset, but that is their policy and they are following policy and nothing is going to be changed, there would be no price adjustment. She then said I could have returned them, and tired to purchase them again. I asked her than why did the clerk that I spoke with at the store told me that I could not repurchase them, in which she replied Well that was the chance you had to take I could not say whether they would go back on the floor or not. I pointed out to her that Target's decision was to lose lots of money, rather than provide me with the price adjustment, and she said that this was their final decision and that if I chose to shop elsewhere I could do that. (I was so shocked at the way she was speaking to me that I said ok, and hung up). After thinking about it, and I still wanted to hear Target's policy from a manager, I called on Wednesday. This time I got a representative that I could not understand, and he said he would transfer me. He transferred me to a customer service agent who's name was Sandy. She insisted that she was a manager and that when I spoke to Carolyn yesterday that Carolyn was also a manager whom was above Sandy and that Carol's answer was final. When I questioned why she said Carolyn at first and then Carol-, Sandy told me that was her nickname - come on! At this time was becoming even more upset because it appeared from my several conversations with Target Customer Service Agents that they twisted the words and would say anything they could that was rude and a lie to me go away. I asked Sandy again to speak with a manager. She transferred me to a person named Claudia whom claimed she was a manager. She was right out rude, she would not let me explain what was going out - each time I spoke she cut me off - and told be she did not need me to explain it - that it was all in the file, and that all I needed was the file number. When I pushed, she came back with what is your problem then (I am amazed that a Manager said this when speaking to a customer). I explained to her that she might want to go back for training because obviously she needs to improve on her soft skills

When I asked her to repeat the file number, she told me the file number with 415- (dash) 555655. When I read it back to her, I said 415 (dash) 555 (dash) 655.in which she replied in a rude and stern voice I did not say (dash). I then asked her to repeat herself and she said 415 (dash) 555655. I asked her I thought you did not say dash then what are 415- (dash), if you did not say dash. Does everyone believe a better way for her handle this, would have been to say, I am sorry but there is only one dash - there is no dash between the 555 and the 655. When I explained to her that I realize that Target does not care, because the are foreign owned; she proceed to tell me everything I know is a big lye that Target is not a foreign owned company, and that is all a misconception, that is an American owned company. It is still my understanding that a Japanese Conglomerate owns Target. Claudia then proceed to say - this is Target's final decision and there is no reversing it, you can chose to take you business else where but we will not issue you a price adjustment and we will not issue you a gift card and this is our final answer.

There is no customer service (I do not like using these words) in this country anymore. What happen to the customer is always right. I know there are many companies that are no longer in business Zayres, and Kmart is not far behind. Target believes I am a little fish and that by me not shopping there anymore it is no big deal; however what we all have to remember is the way they treated me, it could happen to you. I can guarantee you if the same thing happened at Wal-Mart I would not have been treated this way. Enough is Enough!
