Gift registry return nightmare

Target return policy is by far the worst around. I registered at Target for my wedding thinking that would be an easy place for people to purchase gifts from. At my bridal shower I received two of the same items. Just as a side not both people that got me the toaster said they had the cashier scan the registry. So anyway, I think no big deal I am registered here they will see that I registered for that toaster. I get to the counter and the very dry Target worker says do you have your gift receipt. I told her no neither of the people gave it to me. She said well I'm sorry if it is over 20 we can't return it. I told her I was registered there and it shows on my registry. She said "Sorry there is nothing I can do that is Target policy". I asked what the heck I was suppose to do with two toaster if I could not return it she said "Well you can keep it and give it to someone else as a gift". Oh yes that is brilliant not wonder she was working at Target. So then the manager comes over and he said " We should be able to return this off of your registry". The other Target worker looks at him and says well we no longer can do that. So She calls the Target return policy hotline, they tell her no they can't take the toaster back. So the manager, Rico, says he is going to try and override the transaction and allow me to take the toaster back. So as he is hitting keys on the machine he looks at me and says "I'm sorry ma'am but the computer will not allow me to over ride this and take it back". He them proceeds to tell me he can understand why I am upset. He said that he did not understand why they changed their policy to not allow people to return items off the registry. So, just like another consumer on did on rip off report, I called the customer service number while in the parking lot. I speak to three different people non of which were intelligent. So they tell me that there is nothing they can do they have to be consistent with policy and not bend for any customer. The last and final guy that I spoke with said he was a supervisor, he sounded 12, said that there was no one higher than him to speak to. He said he was as high as it went in that office, so I asked for another office number he said there was no other office. So according to this guy he was the "Top Dog of Target" I think not.

So the bottom line is Target is a greedy company that does not care about their customers but instead cares about lining their pockets. What would it have hurt for them to return the extra toaster and give me store credit. The money would have been going back to Target's pockets. As of this point I will no longer shop at Target and have told several friends, co-worker, and family members to beware of Target. What matters is the customers we are the ones that keep stores in business. If we don't shop they don't profit. Lets hit them where it hurts! We are the reason they are in business and we should be treated as such.
