Home Depot requires their customers buying carpet and installation to pay for and use Measure Comp's services, which are strickly to measure your rooms intended for carpeting. A $50 fee is required, and if you purchase the carpet the $50 is deducted from the price. But you know Home Depot has to pay Measure Pro and this is hidden some where, probably in the installation price.
When you schedule a measurement with Measure Pro, usually it's about a week out. We had situations involving furniture and an out of state trip we needed the measurement ASAP. They refused to fit us in, even though we only had one small room to measure. They then told us they don't work on Thursdays! A service company that takes a day off in the middle of the week? When asked why we were told to accomodate working on Saturdays, which is probably the most busiest days to give employees only a 5 day work week.
When the employee came he was not pleasant, maybe 22 years old, and it only took him 5 minutes to do an laser type measurement of a small rectangular room. Then you have to wait for Measure Comp to report the measurement back Home Depot so you can proceed with the measurement. One guy was at HD compaing his measurement happened 10 days ago and Measure Comp still hadn't report their measurement so he could buy his carpet and get it installed. We waited about 5 days.
The measure ment was at least 3 squre yards over our measurement - around 19 yards. But you can not dispute this measurement. So when the carpet was installed I asked my wife to save all scraps. The installation is done by another company.
There was two nearly 4'x4' pieces of carpeting left that totaled over 3 square yards. At $37.35/sq yd, that's over $100 waste. I'm demanding Home Depot who require me to use Measure Comp refund me the difference, Maybe that will motivate them to do something about this contractor who the customer has no control over and who has no incentive to satisfy the customer.
