I started off with Allied Barton right after Hurricane season 08. Not sure of the date but it was October 08. I was hired on as hurricane relief through a job fair at the local workforce center. We were told to come to the "training center" on Mercantile here in Beaumont to do paper work and get uniforms. Upon arival there were people living there, sleeping on cots, trash everywhere, personal junk just tossed around. We were asked to pardon the mess due to being a temp holding place for the hurricane relief guards.
After waiting to be processed i was called to work starting on a tuesday. I trained for 3 hours with two guys from San Antonio. The new guy i got hired with did not show, so 2 hrs later 'Mr Robert' showed up and we worked the rest of the day by our selves.'Mr Robert' and I worked 2 more days then were removed from post because we were no longer needed at the post and never called again.
I called the account manager and he avoided my calls for some time. I attempted to call the number which was listed for the training center here in beaumont but that location has been closed and number disconnected. Which has now been removed from the website. 3 weeks passed by and I never received a check.By then I was working for another company. My mother called and spoke with him and they agreed to 2day my check for the 3days worked.
After working for another "nameless" security company I received an email stating "AlliedBarton is looking for 15 Temporary Security Officers right now!" Needing additional money I responded and was picked up quickly because I WAS STILL ACTIVE IN THE SYSTEM! Few days passed and I started at the Valero Refinery site working 12 hr shifts for the strike. Everything was NOT explained from the beginning, but slowly I learned.
If you were late 1 minute you are not clocked in until 15 minutes after the hr and written up for it as well! Schedules are not made in advance so thrusday evening you will get your schedule for the following week.in the beginning I was the one they would always call to come to work on my off day or stay late. THen when I noticed I was creaping on my 9th or 10th day straight I would say NO. They not only called and blew up my phone they would also call my mothers phone as early as 530 am begging for me to come to work.
Things did not get to be unbearable til recently. I never had a spot, I was a floater and my sch was subject to change without notice. I have copies of my sch and i may have worked days shift and get off at 530pm and be expected to come right back for midnight. Not a big issue at time but I live over 30min away from the location 1way. I finally got a spot just to have it taken away from me and put me in my car. When you work in your car more than likely there is nothing there. You are watching a gate and watching the ppl in and out.
There are 3 particular gates 46,63, and 117 gate. I have pictures and it looks like you are in the dessert. No shade, no grass, no RESTROOM, no handwashing station. Just a port a jon (they just put there a month ago), a building behind you and people passing by. Its summertime and we are in tripple digit weather. These posts are frequent posts but the only posts that do NOT have a guard shack. They will not put gas in your car so you can run the ac! Thers are no water coolers, You have to provide your own water because if not they MIGHT bring you a dirty cooler with water and ice depending on who you are. Oh and you may get a pop cycle.
Things began to go down hill. I began to question about when I would get my benefits since 2 months had passes since i had been back. I called and asked the account manager just to get I DONT KNOW! SO i called benefits and I have NEVER been full time. Only part time so unless I get 35hrs a week for 6months I will never be full time.
I requested off 2 weeks in advance for personal reasons and asked for a copy. They messed that request up and I would not come to work. My supervisor called on my cell phone me and FUSSED at me stating that she cant keep adjusting the schedule to fit me being full time. How I need to come to work if I want to keep my job. And I need to be considerate of others so they can have off too. Well We went back and forth for about 20 min. Stated that she was going to send something to me so I can put in writing that I am going to go part time due to personal issues. I informed her that I am part time according to benefits. She then hung up on me.
After that my hrs went down from 35-39 to 29-32. I took sick over fathers day week and called off with doctors excuse. So since im part time I have not sick pay and ended up with less than 20hrs for the week. My next schedule and last was only 16hrs. Yes 2 days working 8hrs. I called thursday to get my schedule just to find I had been removed from the schedule and was told to call the following day to find out why im not on the schedule from the account manager. I called and got no answer, left voicemail. Called later that day and got transfered to a guard shack and not the account manager. Called her line directly and again left voicemail. Only to have no call in return. I have not been on the schedule since June 28,09. I stopped calling and have since filed unemployment until I get another job.
During my time there I have turned a bling eye to lots of thing that arent my business. I have heard the supervisor cursing out other guards as well as contractors. Heard her whispering about one of the guards who got a promotion and talk down on her because she is a lesbian. Seen, heard about and received forwarded naked pictured of one of the guards there and how bad they talk about her. Listened to one now shift supervisor ramble on and on about nothing while he gropes himself repeatedly.
Im not saying all this to get revenge. I just want others to be aware of all the FOOLISHNESS than does go on with in this company.
