The same as many other reports I've seen here... Closed our account with Charter after moving and switching to DirecTV. Received a bill for converter boxes and cable modemm although I'd been told the cable modem was a purchase when we got it. Since I didn't need it anymore, I sent it back (Wife brought to their office) with an explanation that we had no converter boxes.
Once the equipment "issue" was cleared up, we received a a notice from a collection agency requesting our last month's service charge, after being told by Charter we had no outstanding bills, charges, anything. Of course, the collection agency's web page and phone mail only have payment options, and the letter bears no address to send written claims. I somehow spoke to them (I can't remember now how), and a rep told me they'd reinvestigate it and get back to me. A month or two later we receive another collection notice. Requests for documentation of this debt (the proof should be on them, right?) were disregarded. We're about to pay them $40 just to get them away from us. You win, you crooks.
