It is like this. You run an ad asking for owner/operators to come on board. You have to run team in order to be a contractor with FedEx. Meet all these requirements and you can come on board and make 250,000 a year without any problems. Spend about 2500.00 to get all the equipment needed and go to 3 days of class to learn about FedEx, and you have a great job.
Well, this did not happen from the start. We did everything we were asked to do, and then we were dispatched. We ran our first load, then we sat for 4 days waiting for dispatch to call with the next run. No calls from dispatch. 50.00 a day keeping the truck running to keep warm. Staying in the truck for 4 days just waiting to get that call. Nothing happened. We called every day. No freight, no money for sitting and waiting for that call.
Days pass, time passes, and bills start coming in for the money spent to sign on with FedEx. Truck payments due, house payments due, pickup trucks due, insurance payments, and no runs. We asked what is going on with your dispatch system. They said, "We are just a bit slow, but things should pick back up real soon. Don't forget you are new to our system. We cannot pass you up on dispatch, because our dispatch system will not allow this to happen."
"You know what we mean. No shaky dispatching goes on here. If this was to happen, we could get into big trouble." Then we got a couple of loads offered, and we could not afford to pull them because it would cost us to run the loads. So we waited yet 4 more days, and now things were getting bad. We had been leased on with them for 36 days and had not made enough money to pay any bills.
We kept waiting for dispatch to call. Now we were finding our own loads just to get home. No revenue for the first month, 2 months, 4 months. Now I am running by myself because we could not afford for my wife to run with me.
Then we started to lose trucks, home and now the rig. Now I am out of a job.
Does FedEx care? No. They would not even advance me enough money to keep my rig so I could work. It was repossessed. I am out of work, and I lost my personal trucks and everything in 4 months.
Thanks, FedEx, for causing us to lose everything we own and worked so hard for.
We have lost the home, 289,000; pickup trucks, 65,000.00; the rig to make money, 55,000; and 500.00 a day for time sitting waiting for loads, 20 days, 10,000.00 dollars worth of layover time.
Now what do we do from here? No truck to work with, no pickups to find a job, no home to live in. Bad shape.
Stay away from them.
