I contacted the Lawyer Referral service in April. I was charged $30.00 for a 30 min meeting. I was told that I would have to make an appointment. When the lawyer called we talked about my situation.
He told me that I should stick to what I had been doing with the Attorney Generals Office and the Banking commision. That there wasn't really anything he could do. I was told to call back to the Referral Services in the future if I needed more help.
I contacted the Service and told them that I was not going to meet with the attorney. I asked for a refund. After calling 3 times and sending back a survey. I received a call from the Service. I was told that I would not be getting back my $30.00 because I talked to the Attorney.
She told me that I could dispute it with my credit card company but that they would also dispute my claim. SO whats the point. They should just credit it back since I did have my consultation.
I don't know how they can say that a phone conversation is a consultation usually lawyers at least look at the papers.
What doesn't make any sense is I was told that it was a office meeting. Never once was told that it was done over the phone. This lawyer never even looked at my papers. All he did was tell me he couldn't help and tell me to keep doing what I'm doing.
I could have gotten that advice from any lawyer for free and been seen in the office.
This service didn't do anything that should have cost me $30.00. I'm very disappointed in the service and will not use it again nor do I recommend it to any one.
Most lawyers will give you a free consultation for most services. I recommend just picking up the phone book.
