I would like to help with this task, informing consumers.
We went through the issue of moving out of state, you know those wonderful commercials "we move it so you don't have to", they tell you to leave your dish there and you take the receivers and remotes with you?
Our two year contract was up when relocated. Took the receivers and remotes and DirecTV was at the new home in the new state quicker than you can blink.
We shipped one reciever back. The company continued to bill us for four receivers, it's been over a year. We called them on numerious occassions and told them of this, we didn't think we would have to send them a certified/return reciept notification... However, now it's clear that this company doesn't play by the rules and they only answer to their "shareholders", not the customer.
Do you think they gave us our money back for the receiver we shipped them? No. Do you think we'll ever see these monies for the year they billed us? No. Do you honestly think they care? No, they don't. They only care about the bottom line and answering to their shareholders, period.
We called to cancel our service and the rep was so nice, even offered us six months of free service! I told this young man that we were still waiting for our bill to reflect the correct amount of receivers, at which point the young man claimed he wasn't sure why the account was reflecting the four receivers. He also stated that his records didn't show our previous address and or service... How convenient. I stood firm in having my service cancelled, then this nice rep moved to a more aggressive manner. I was told that our two year contract was not up, we had one more year...??? No, we were in our third year in a new state and the contact didn't have any language about a new contract starting up when you move after your first two year contract. He advised me that his records did not reflect the previous account, due to it being in another state. Long story short, he said we would be charged $XXX. XX amount for a early cancellation fee on the contract.
It's time to know where to direct consumer complaints with this company and be able to get results.
