I signed up for direct TV through the Partner firm of ACN. The package I was offered was for $34.99 a month. I got a bill telling me no payment due and I was Ok with it, because it was automatically being deducted from my account. So needless to say, I did not read any other part of the bill. I got the next bill and noticed that I was being charged $65.99 a month. I was shocked. I called and asked why, I was told that I did not send in any rebates. I said "what rebates", I wasn't informed of any rebates. I was told it was on my first bill and it was my responsibility to look at it. I asked for a supervisor and got another person, who I am reasonably sure wasn't a supervisor. But basically told me that same thing. I told them that if I had been informed of the "rebate" procedure, I would have looked at my "non-bill" closer, remember it said "No payment due", and I would have followed the procedure for submitting the rebates.
I think this is a poor way to do business, I am reporting Direct Tv to the Texas BBB and the Texas Attorney Generals office. I believe a company that is doing business without fully disclosing the terms and agreements of the contract are in violation of that contract. I cannot afford to pay the termination fees but as soon as my contract is up, I will be terminating them and I will tell all my friends not to renew or start a contract with Direct TV.
