I called Direct TV to see what it would cost to get HD services. I was told if I switched from Dish Network I would be billed 49.99 per month for one year and would have DVR for 3 rooms, HD, Showtime, HBO and Stars for the duration of the contract of one year.

This phone conversation was at least an hour. The rep offered discounts and rebates in order to get to this package. I was also assured I would not have new holes in the roof for the new dish.

Upon delivery of Direct TV, new holes would need to be drilled, only one DVR would be included in the price but I could use the 2 standards for the same price.

I let them install the Direct TV and found my first bill to be 81.24 of which they are drafting my checking account. I called very unhappy and was told simply that was too bad I didn't read my contract at delivery.

I asked for several supervisors and was treated terribly by all of them as they didn't care what I had been told as reality was all that mattered.

I asked to disconnect the service the day I called about the first bill and was told there would be 460.00 fee for disconnect. I said I couldn't pay that fee I was told in 3 months my bill would climb to 92.97 and would remain that price the duration of the first year but would go 117.00 during the second year.

I was furious because I was trying to lower my bills in the change not increase them. I asked how to get my bill under control and was informed I should call on Feb 7th and ask for all the programming to be taken to bare minimums and they would reduce the price to 55.95 but all I would have would be children stations and local programming.

All I wanted was out of the bogus contract. Again, they refused, mentioned I would have my card drafted for disconnect and would ulimately go to collections!

Direct TV refused to listen to the recording of my first conversation as they said it was only for training and quality control and said they didn't keep the recordings very long, the first recording would be long gone.

I've not been with Direct TV for even one full month yet and have already had a nightmare. Run from this company!
