Premier Bathrooms, Inc
Sold my mother (age 80) an unusable shower stall for $15,000 and they will not make restitution to her. South Daytona

Have you ever heard of the company called Premier Bathrooms?

Let me introduce you. They have no store front and no physical business presence in Maryland, except for contractual "consultants" who manage complaints, one of whom is Rich Clark, Premier's Field Service Manager (443)-912-8907 or (443) 629-5805 whom Premier sent to my mother's house to "check the drain" as their "gesture of goodwill."

Premier's corporate office is at 2330A South Nova Road, Daytona, Fl. 32119, at telephone no: (386) 761-1830, fax: (386)-761-6754, and on the web at: www.premier-bathrooms.com

They are out of Daytona Beach, Florida and they are a sleazy operation whose target market is the vulnerable elderly. They utilize concerns of the elderly such as falling, pain, and arthritis and prey on their fear to sell their extremely overpriced shower stalls.

My mother fell victim to their TV ads and before we knew it, she had an aggressive salesman in her house (their only means of selling) who went to work on her with his typical sales tactics, telling her he would only be in town another day and that if she wanted it soon, she would have to order it now because it takes a long time to get as he claimed they were imported from Germany. I believe these to be fabrications, as they are common and very effective sales tactics.

FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS POORER, my mother now has what they call a "walk-in" shower stall that she can barely get into sideways. There is a seat with a back at 90 degrees, so the person must sit bolt upright - hardly relaxing.

She has not been able to utilize the hydrotherapy, because the first time she entered the shower and closed the door, she realized if she filled the tub to capacity for the full so called benefit, she would have been stuck in the shower until the 80 gallons of water drained, a potentially dangerous scenario. Not wanting to subject herself to the discomfort of sitting in cooling water waiting for the water to drain low enough to enable her to open the door and "walk-out" she can now only take a shower. The questionable "hydrotherapy" feature cannot be used at all.

Once I experienced this absurd contraption for myself and learned what she paid for it, I contacted the Maryland State Attorney General's Office, Consumer Protection Division. They were familiar with Premier Bathrooms, Inc., but Premier is still operating unfettered in Maryland.

The Attorney General's Office has not held them accountable for my mother's huge expenditure, at triple customary cost for such a shower, or to cause Premier to remove this shower she cannot utilize.

I hoped the OAG could get Premier to either refund a major portion of the $15,000 or take this useless shower out and install one of their bathtub models with a power seat, a regular bathtub in which she can immerse herself and relax. Of course, she still requires a sturdy handrail if Premier does not offer a seat which moves from outside to inside the bathtub as many companies offer. As you will see below, they apparently offer such a bathtub now, but my mother certainly does not have one.

So far, the CEO of Premier, Ian White has not returned my calls, nor have I heard from the OAG on my second complaint. It is important to note that the second complaint arose due to my irritation at hearing my mother's call for help because she was stuck in the shower with her legs still in the water that would not drain, calling for a plunger. Of course she could have flooded the bathroom by opening the door, couldn't she? I suppose Premier, having amassed a whopping $15 Grand from my mother doesn't really care how she gets out of the tub or if she expires in it while waiting to open the door.

Since my complaint to Premier back in October, wherein I chastised them for this malfunctioning design and installation of their "showers" they have merely used my information to further their cause.in the latest AARP Bulletin, April, Vol. 50, No. 3, bulletin. Aarp.org, next to the last page, Premier boasts a new model to sell to their unwitting market.

The ad says:

"Transform your bathroom and transform your life."

Well, my mother, $15,000 poorer is still waiting for her life to be transformed.instead, Premier has actually damaged her house by removing her bathtub and installing the contraption she will likely get stuck in again and again. Let's hope the paramedics won't have to be called to get her out someday while she waits for Premier to undo the damage they have done and end the physical and financial misery she still suffers at their hands.
