RJ Here in south carolina, you are stopped and asked for your receipt when exiting Wal-Mart even if the alarm does not ring. I have chosen to ignore them and so far other than a few dirty looks have had no problems. I was discussing your post with my wife, an ex Wal Mart employee and she told me that the greeters are not, under any circumstances, supposed to go through the sliding doors in to the parking lot. Rather if they suspect a theft, they are to either call the store security or the floor manager. The only problem is that they have no way to do either (no radio, etc) So unless someone is near by, (a remote possibility according to my wife) they are forced simply to reuest. I must admit that at one time I showed them receipts but like u, I tired of having to prove myself innocent. They have 3 me choices; either let me go or physically detain and arrest me in which case i am going to sue their ass off. It is not a question of loss of time or inconvenience (though you suffer both) It is a matter of principal. Forget the greeters, the wanna be security guards are a joke as far as shoplifters are concerned. They are GREETERS Let them stick to what they know.
