I signed up for a Buckle credit card several years ago. I used it several times, each time paying it off in full. The last time I used it was right before I moved out of state and forgot to pay the balance of $20 on the card. I left my forwarding address with my post office as well as notifying The Buckle of my change in address, but I did not receive any monthly statements from The Buckle and being very busy, I forgot about it.
Several months later I start getting calls from an unknown number. I checked my voice mail call and it says he is calling from World Financial National Bank, calling in regards to my Buckle account. He tells me the balance is $80 and that I need to pay it off immediately.
I call the customer service line for the Buckle and they say they cannot do anything since they do not handle their credit card accounts and suggest I call back World National Bank.
I call them and talk to several "customer service" representatives, each telling me that I must pay the balance and the only discount they can offer me (after I complain to them that I have not received any late fee notices or statements) is $10 if I pay them that day. I suck it up and pay off the balance after I speak to a "manager" whom I requested to talk to because I felt it was unfair I had to pay the late fees if I had no notice of them.
I feel it is irresponsible of The Buckle to not emphasis to customers that they do not handle their own credit accounts and the lack of customer service at World Financial Bank. I felt my concerns were ignored!
Needless to say, I still get phone calls from World Financial Bank even though I have closed my Buckle account (after paying it off) and hold no other credit cards.
