Being an animal caretaker, I am very concerned about how animals are treated.
Two months ago, I purchased a rat. She was a newborn, just got her off the truck. Two days later, she died. I called Petco and they said that the whole bunch had died from a respitory disorder. A cold.
I went back and they gave me a new rat, free of charge. A week later, I noticed that this rat was struggling to breathe. A few hours later, she too, died in my hands.
Why are these animals dying? I have heard nothing but stories about how other pet stores handle their animals, and I'm worried that petco is doing the same.
Please be careful when buying a pet. So that you don't have to go through the horror of holding your pet when she dies.
