As a happy ADT customer who moved recently, I called the nearest office (Syracuse NY) of ADT's authorized dealer Defender Direct (HQ @ Indianapolis IN) for a new system.
Well, for 3 months it was like a Three Stooges film here — trainees who pointed sensors at the ceiling, technicians sent to fix those sensors who left glue-strips on the walls, their supervisor who was texting his friends the whole time, etc etc. Finally I got ADT to take my account itself.
Here's the best part:
*ADT made Defender sent me a refund — then Defender called to threaten me with collections if I didn't return "their" money! *
Save yourself the agony of dealing with these twits, just call ADT directly. I found out that ADT generally has a local office, no matter how small your town, and you may have to hunt around to get their (unadvertised) number, but just skip the resellers / dealers and go straight to ADT.
