This moving company misrepresented:
1. When their agent Dixon solicited to do the moving of our furnitures and other household items from Virginia to California he gave me an estimate ($1,947) that was lower from the actual amount that I paid ($2,700). The difference in the price did not bother me that much. It's when I found out that it is not the Evergreen Van Lines (whom I have a contract with) that did the moving but another company (that they have subcontracted) after they came to pick up our items. Dixon did not tell me or even mention that they do a lot of subcontracting.
2. Scheduled time for pick-up was not followed.
3. Difficulty in filing a claim for broken furniture and missing boxes. One of the foot of my dining table was broken. Two (2) picture frames (approx 30 in X 20 in), two (2) glass tops (coffee table and end table), two (2) glass shelves (end table and entry table) were missing. I filed a claim with the actual moving company that brought our items but they gave me a run around. So I called up Evergreen Van Lines and they told me to file a claim on-line. I did that and I got a reply telling me that within 24 hours someone will call me. I waited for more than a week but nobody called me, so I called them. That's when they told me that I need to contact the company that they subcontracted with.
So for those of you who are moving be careful with the company you are contracting with. Ask them if they are actually doing the moving or they are subcontracting; clarify or ask them to explain their damage or missing claims
policy if they are subcontracting or even if they are doing the moving, and how much percentage difference is the quoted price from the actual price if all the items are the same.
