I had a small business in Oklahoma, a restaurant and bar. We had dish network sat. Tv. Sometime in 2003 someone opened a direct tv account and started charging the charges to our business credit card. Our accountant never caught it she just assumed we had direct tv. Our manager never caught it, she just assumed we had direct tv. Bills were recieved, and paid by check. It was only after I sold the business that I recieved a call from a collection agency that I owed 33 dollars for my direct tv acct. I thought "wait a minute, I thought we had dish network, " we did.
After contacting direct tv, I was informed that I would have to prove that I was actually paid the charges. That meant going back finding every charge on several credit cards, and bank accts. Now if yoiu have bogus charges, there is only a fax number you can send your "copies of credit card statements" etc to. If they dont feel like responding I guess you are out of luck. I am at the point of contacting an attorney and just handing it off to him, and trying to get punitive damages for damaging my credit and for charging me for a service never rendered.
