ATTN All Freight Forwarders:
I am a small Customs Broker located in Los Angeles, CA. Recently I discovered that one of my long time clients has left me for "cheaper prices" after receiving a sales call/visit from YRC logistics (formally known as Meridian IQ) in Los Angeles, CA.
The salesmen knew who my client was and the types of shipments they are importing. This is because my clients information was provided to YRC Logistics by Yellow Transportation, who was the trucker I was using at the time.
Several years ago Yellow transportation was purchased by freight forwarder YRC logistics (formerly known as Meridian IQ) and has been/is UNDERHANDELY BACKSELLING all it's trucking customers to YRC Logistics.
ANY TRUCKING SHIPMENT given to Yellow Transportation is automatically referred to YRC Logistics sales staff for immediate BACKSELLING.
The heavier the weight and/or the more frequent the shipments the more likely YRC will contact your customer.
I believe this activity should be ILLEGAL. As a Customs Broker / Freight Forwarder, mine and my clients shipments are confidential. Yellow Transportation has NO RIGHT to refer 2 party information to a 3rd party without mine or my clients consent.
According to his own word (a senior employee of YRC in Los Angeles, CA) personally told me that Meridian IQ grew so fast because of this (sneaky, underhanded, back selling) method.
I warn all freight forwarders:
Stay away from yellow transportation unless you want all your clients and thier delviery information reffered to yrc logistics.
