My daughter just received a "settlement offer" from CBCS for BellSouth for $622. Supposedly if she pays half, the bill will "disappear". She asked for an itemized bill, and she was told she would have to "put the request in writing, and send 2 forms of ID to them, in the mail". Not on your life.
She had to call back 5 times to get to a supervisor, and she still has to send the letter, but she is not sending ID of any kind and I had her put in the letter "cease and desist communications" as this is not her bill.
She asked for the phone number on the bill and it was not even her phone number under Bell South. It also did not have the correct address attached to it. She lived in that complex, but she lived in a different building and not the one attached.
Supposedly they had this bill since 2004. It is now 2009 and they are just getting a hold of her? I do not think so.
