You know, everybody thinks of child support enforcement as something only for deadbeat dads, but what if you were a woman married once to a psycho ex cop who knows the system? My case is a nightmare. Ever since this started, not a day goes by that I don't think about killing myself.
I am a 47 year old woman, mother of 5, who was once married to a cop. He is satan. You would think after 5 years of being divorced, he would leave me alone. But he is sick, sick, sick. About 3 weeks after he left me, my house burned down (sorry to say, he did not do it). Then the phone calls from him and his equally sick psychotic girlfriend started. They never stopped. She tried to have me arrested once for stalking! The calls to CPS started, and the late night visits from the local cops. They never stopped, especially after I met another man. Forget it!
So here I am, 5 years later, he now has custody of my son and daughter, after a long battle with CPS, and being threatened with neglect, CPS basically dragged me into the local office, and the bitch supervisor there pushed me up against the wall and told me either I give up custody of my daughter to my ex or they will take me to court for neglect, and I could lose my daughter forever. So here it is 6 months later, and I am now at the mercy of the psychotic control freak, and the local support collection unit who doesn't give a damn that I make less money than he does, and he is retired, and is on disability, but makes twice as much as me. I am supposed to get half his pension, but do not have enough money to afford an attorney.
He lives a few hours away from me, and lately has been trying to turn my daughter against me. I remember one time, he accused me of doing the same thing, and the cops were at my front door in half an hour. My daughter does not want to see me anymore, despite the fact that I have a court order saying I get liberal visitation. He insisted on getting legal custody of our 19 year old son, who is going to college up there, and of course is living with him. So I not only have to pay support for my daughter, but also for my son. I am living on $200 a week, and my mortgage payment is 1400 a month. My husband no longer works because of an injury he sustained at work. He is trying to get workers comp, but only receives 400 a month. The support collection unit up there claimed that I was behind on my arrears, and they were taking extra money out of my paycheck, but now that should have been resolved, but they are claiming that I owe more than twice as much as I did, so if I go by them, I will NEVER be paid up. The support magistrate up there has no sympathy. She is going by a paycheck I had that had some overtime in it.
I will lose my house, and my car, and my sick ex tried to tell the magistrate in court today, that he does not want me to go back to school to further my career (because he HAD TO GIVE UP GOING TO SCHOOL TO RAISE OUR CHILDREN). What was I doing for 20 something years of my life? I have to sell my house before I lose it because I can't afford the taxes anymore, and told them that I would have to quit my job when I move. He said he will "not allow me to quit my job" - What? Am I supposed to commute? He begged me not to go to support collection when I had custody, so I didn 't. But he couldn't wait to go on me. He begged me to give him back his pension, and he would consider lowering the child support, but the way I figure it, child support won't last forever, but as long as he's alive, his pension will. However, as long as I am going through this, I have no money, and nobody to support me, or understand what I'm going through.
