My teenage daughter had color service done at Bliss Salon in Toms River NJ. Girl that did the work ws named Becky. They met several before for a consultation. When they met, my daughter requested a full head of foil highlights. My daughters hair color was a medium brown color & she explained to Becky that she wanted foiled blond highlights throughout her hair.
My daughter came home from her appointment, in tears, as the work done was not what she had wanted. Her entire head is now a yellow-gold color. It appears that Becky pulled way too much hair into the foils, as there is no trace of Nicoles previous color. The foils done around the crown were several inches from the scalp in some places, which looked rather sloppy. Lastly, there were some spots that appear that color was dripped on her head.
I called Becky soon after to see what could be done to correct the color. She was somewhat ambiguous on the phone and suggested that a toner may take out the brassyness of the yellow. I asked if we could come back right away, which we did.
When we went back to the salon, I sensed immediate hostility from Becky, who was a young girl, herself. I did not want to insult her work, so I made every possible effort to come to a resolution that everyone would be happy with. She kept insisting that my daughters hair looked fine to her and repeatedly told me you just dont understand how color works. Another young lady behind the desk, Denine, kept calling over it looks fine to me too.
I showed her the dripped patches, she insisted that these things happen. Again, she said it looks fine to me. At that point, I expressed that my daughter was not happy with the work, and either was I.
She said I can put a toner on it but who knows if Nicole will be happy with that either. She was blatantly rude and lacked any professional etiquette.
While trying to come to a remedy, Becky refused to let me speak, and interrupted me every time I tried to talk to her. She interrupted me so many times that I finally asked her to please let me finish talking. At that point, Becky rolled her eyes at me, then turned around & walked away while I was speaking to her.
I asked, where are you going, Im still speaking to you? She threw up her arms, and said I dont need this and proceeded to walk over to the reception desk.
I followed her over I asked her what the salons policy was when a client is not pleased and she said she didnt know. At that time, she asked Denine. Denine said we dont have any policy. I reiterated by asking them both you dont have a written policy of any sort? They confirmed with a No. I requested a refund, which they denied so I asked her to return the tip that my daughter had given her, which she did by slapping the money in my daughters hand.
I asked to speak with a manager and was told there were no managers on duty. I asked for a name so that I could call, and the girl behind the desk responded you are so rude, Becky jumped in with isnt she? I asked again for the name of the manager, and their response was well have them call you. I said, no, I would like a name so I can make the call myself. The one girl responded with a one word answer Roe.
I asked when Roe wouldnt be in until end of the week. When I asked what manager would be in earlier, i got another one word response... Sidney.
I turned to my daughter and said, lets leave, Ill send you somewhere else to have the corrective color done. At that point we headed down the stairs & I heard Denine say BITCH. I marched back up the stairs, fuming at this point. I looked at her & asked her what she just called me, she responding nothing. Im embarrassed to say that I used profanity and said *uck youand walked out. As we headed down the stairs again, she screamed out after me that she was calling the police.
I called the salon the next morning asking to speak to Sydney, the alleged manager. Denine answered the phone and asked who was calling, when I stated my name, she said Sydney was on vacation. I asked if there would be a manager in later today & she said, yes someone else would be there around 3pm. I hung up, but called back a few minutes later. I spoke with Denine again & asked her for the name of the owner.
She responded Ziggy. I told her that I wanted to contact her in writing & asked for her last name. She said she wasnt going to give that information out and hung up on me. I had to call the Chamber of Commerce, than my local tax office to get the info!
Im embarrassed that the two of them got me so angry that I lost my cool, but to be treated so badly after my daughter just paid $160.00 on horrible service is unacceptable. I wrote a very nice letter to the owner of Bliss. She called me immediately & Im disgusted to say that she was ruder than the 2 little shits that work for her.
She refused a refund but offered to do corrective work for 1/2 price! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We were scammed. They saw a young girl with pretty hair & figured they'd screw it up so she'd have to get it redone...
Needless to say, I took her to a real colorist & had it done correctly. Came out great but cost me an add'l $170 to have it fixed.
STAY AWAY FROM BLISS, unless of course you want to overpay for a bad hair day.
