In the 1960s the Duke Power Company bought land from local farmers to create a lake and a nuclear power facility. More land was purchased than was needed. Today Cresent Land and Timber owns thousands of acres of lakefront property. (notice duke does not own the land because by law a utility can not profit by land development). Who do you think owns Cresent land and timber? You guessed it! Now this company is selling land for hundreds of thousands of dollars per acre that many of the farmers sold for as little as $500. I feel the land should be sold back to the farmers at $500 an acre.
