Monitoring a non-existing system from another company

First off, I never signed a contract with this company. Next, the system in question has been de-activated (No power or phone line to the building) since March of 08. Finally, I was never notified that some other company was "monitoring" that wasn't my original contract.

So, let me state that I keep getting bills for something that doesn't exist, from a company that I never heard of, that doesn't have a contract with my signature.

I did call them about it sometime back, but they stated that I still had to pay for a service that they didn't provide. I mean how can you monitor soemthing that isn't connected to your system? And who gave them authority to do it? It doesn't state that they have the right in MY CONTRACT. I even have a clause that says they need to have my WRITTEN PERMISSION to "sell/transfer or otherwise move my contract from the originating company".

Well when I called them, they gave the same story about"written request to cancel" and that they can't just "stop monitoring because of no payment". I asked them when they got my contract, they said in June... June? There was no active system in place then, how where you monitoring anything I asked... Response: "We are just the billing department"

Well bring out your "Bill past due", cause you won't see one red cent from me.

Just for future reference, make sure you read the fine print, and you can always make adjustments to any contract that you don't agree with. If they don't like it, THEY can always tell you that they don't want your business.
