My elderly, deaf parents signed up for APX alarm on their home. They understood the contract to expire June. I have moved my parents to an assisted living center out of state. My mother contacted the company telling them of her intended move, but they have refused to cancel the contract and have insisted on continuing to bill my parents. When I called the company they suggested we could sell the contract on Craig's list or pay off the contract until June for the sum of $1450.78.
I have an alarm security system on my own home a pay $25 a month for monitoring while they were being charged almost $50 a month for motion detection on doors only. I can cancel my obligation with my alarm system just be calling them and ending the service. I feel to have sold a contract for 5 years and not allow people moving to end the contract at any time is a complete rip off.
