Apple Movers
Damaged furniture, damaged diverway, missing items

My daughter moved from Edmond Ok to Swannanoa, NC on. 8-11-08 and we have tried to get matters straight with this company since the move. We just received a denial letter Nov. 16,08 from them. We have made several calls to get the damages and damage to our driveway in NC since the move. Will explain in the story.

I am the father of Marcella Calloway which had the move but I paid for the process. We had called the driver and owner Mr. Franklin and advised them before they got here that they would need to back up the driveway as we live on a mountain and they said they would check it out. When the truck arrived at appr. 4 P.M. On a Sunday, he refused to back in but said he could turn around at the top.

MY wife and daughter were the only ones at home at this time, and they told him it had been tried before and could not be done. He did it anyway and became stuck causing a large hole in the gravel drive and several tore up places in the asphalt drive where the bumper dug into. The women started helping to unload as rain was starting and he could not move the truck close to the house.

He finally got 2 day labors that showed up but when they opened the truck found the chimney was broke in small pieces and ashes were everywhere. They dragged the mattresses through the ashes causing them to be covered in it. Most of this furniture was less then 6 months old. They did not cover any of the mattresses. When they unloaded the master dresser it had 2 large holes in the back. They piled about 90% of the boxes and furniture in the garage and never help set up any beds.

The women did that after they left. The driver told Mrs. Calloway that she had 10 days to unpack and call and let them know if there was any more damage. At this point he had to call a wrecker to stabilize the truck from turning over and to get him out of the hole and bumper out of asphalt. He came into the house at almost 10 P.M. And had my daughter sign the form showing it had been delivered. He pointed to where she needed to sign.

In the next few days got a call from Apple wanting me to sign the credit card statement and to send pictures and items damaged which we did. During the next 10 days my daughter found lots of items missing, like grandson's golf clubs, bathroom items and granddaughters printer and computer items. I called the office and asked, did they have anymore boxes in the warehouse. The girl advised that it could be possible and she would check.

Never called back so when I called again she advised she found nothing. Asked when we would be compensated for the damages to the driveway and to the items missing and damaged. She advised that the insurance dept was working on it. When we got the denial letter, where the driver had showed her to sign, in small print, said items delivered with no damage. I know the driver, clerk and Mr. Franklin are all family, and this show me the integrity of the company and the people working there.

When the driver acknowledges that he caused damage and to pull something like this is unbelievable. I have moved almost 10 times and this is the first time that boxes are not numbered with a printed list of items which usually is checked off by the customer at the time it is unloaded. My daughter still has probably 3 boxes of things missing and the damage. I have already had the drive and asphalt repaired at a cost of almost $200. I have given up on Apple and this is the best recourse at this time. We had called the BBB office prior to selecting them and they had advised they had several complaints but all but one had been settled.

Thanks for your help and info that you supplied us. I hope that they have the decency to stand behind there work especially when they know they caused it. We have pictures of the stuck truck, damages to the furniture, and will be getting a letter from the wrecker service.
