23 boxes were missing. I sat on a stool by the door and check each piece as it came in and the movers knew it. They ever came back a couple of times to tell me I missed a box or two. About 12 of the boxes came in smashed and so were the contents. They started this delivery telling me they could not get the truck close to the apartment so i had to pay $ 500 cash for them to unload the truck. The girl in the office told me that many trucks came in and out and never charged a penny.
They had 4 tv's packed in blankets and some furniture also packed. They never unpacked one thing. The next day, the driver called and wanted his blankets. I told him that it would cost him $ 500 cash to get them. He said throw them away, so I did. The company said he was coming back to check the damage. That was stupid because the next day, only about 10 % was unpacked. He never mentioned that to me and he was such an asshole. He told the local workers to collect from us for their work unloading the truck. I told them where to go and they were not very happy.
When we had unpacked all the stuff, so much is missing, I called them and they told me they were not going to honor our damage because I refused to let the driver in. That was wrong because the driver never asked to check a thing, only to get his blankets.
The damage is horrible. A TV unit that holds a TV and CD's in the sides is smashed and is not usable. It weight about 500 lbs and it looked like they dropped it somewhere.
I made up two pages of stuff that was broken or is still missing and so far E Z Movers has denied any claims. Lamps are missing, My wifes Llrado has several pieces missing, card table and 4 chairs, my pool sticks that were in a case are missing and they cost me over $ 600. I collect ships and several are missing including one that costs over $ 1,000. One of the movers grabbed my leather elephant and broke the trunk off. I glued it back on but it looks terrible and that cost over $ 500.
The move was horrible and E Z Movers were about as nasty as any one we have ever dealt with. We have moved 5 times in eight years and this was by far, the worse one of all.
One of the girls at the movers office gave us a name to write to, to explain all this stuff and I believe it was the Movers Assoc. Of America.
I did but I have not heard a word from anyone yet. It was sent about the 6th of Oct. I believe they should be barred from doing any more business until they settle the cases they have against them currently. There has to be a law to protect us against such garbage as this. They keep saying its too bad and not their fault. If its not their fault, whose fault is it. My furniture was in storage about nine months and it sure got wrecked. I think that is their problem, not mine and they should pay for the damages. If not, at least give me back all the boxes that are missing. I asked the driver when he was finishedm where the rest of the boxes were and he said he had delivered all that was on the sheet. I asked him to check his sheet with mine and he refused twice to do that. He told me it was none of my business what his sheet said. I really found that odd.
I called the company and they denied all that i have said. They say that the sheet was completely delivered but they also would not give me a copy of what the sheets said. I find that very odd!
