Lost clothing items and refused to reimburse after BBB opened inquiry

I took clothing items to Oak Creek Cleaners located in Irvine, CA. The store lost my items and to make a very, very long story short after being told the owner, Eric Adams, would contact me (he never did) and I had left numerous (at least 25) messages for him to call I finally caught him at the store. He explained they did indeed lose the items and he would reimburse me but had to file a claim with his insurance company. Weeks went by and again I heard nothing. More calls and still he was never in nor would he return my calls.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau who contacted him directly. He admitted to them the lost items and agreed to reimburse me. The BBB closed the case. (and for the record his store was already rated "F". I never heard from him nor received any type of reimbursement.

As a customer of this store for over a year I was extremely disappointed to be treated this way and essentially lied to after a) I was told directly I'd be reimbursed and b) he told the BBB he would reimburse me.

I indeed felt ripped off and told this story many times to friends and neighbors. I know some never frequented his store again. I will continue to tell my story again and again. This happened a few years ago and as I came across this site felt my story needed to be told again.
