Loterias Y Apuestas International Del Estado
Spanish Lottery Scam

Yesterday my husband received an official looking letter from Loterias Y Apuestas International Del Estado, Madrid, Espana advising he had won 935,470 as part of a computer ballot system drawn from 67,480 names from Euope, Asia, Australia, Middle East, North and South America as part of an annual tourism promotions programme. Of the winnings 10% would go to a claims agent Don Louis J Lapota, the foreign operations manager of Prosegur Segurous SA. The letter advised there had been a mix up in the numbers but he was one of 27 winners sharing 16,621, 340.00 Euros.

The envelope was postmarked Correos, Malaga and it could have added up as we had just returned from a spanish holiday Nr Malaga. I thought it was a hoax because:

1. There was no email or website address on the letter.
2. As an almost 1m winner, surely the company would fly a rep to the UK or invite us back to Spain to present a cheque for their PR purposes rather than send a poorly translated letter with a 0,60 Euro stamp!
3. Why would a claims agent take 10% of the lottery winning?

On checking the company name via google your website came up and highlighted 21 scam reports on this company.

I thought of taking the letter to the Police but thought that another on line report would hopefully prevent others from wasting their time, money or energy on this company.
