My family hired James Fagan Construction Inc. To build an addition onto our home. His estimates before, during, and nearing completion of the job, never exceeded $45K. Upon completion of the job, Fagan demanded a balance of nearly $20K be paid. When we asked to see records of the expenses and an explanation of the gross overshoot of the estimate, Fagan became irate and behaved in a very unprofessional and disrespectful manner to my family. He even threatened to take the equivalent of $20K in possessions from our home to recoup his "losses." Fagan proceeded to hire an attorney who sent a menacing letter to us, demanding that we pay the balance of $20K, or face prosecution. Not only did Fagan go 40% over on the job, but he failed to indicate this during the construction of the addition. I am not sure whether Fagan thought he could take advantage of an immigrant family and pocket some extra money, or if he tries to extort money from all his clients. That being said, I would implore any potential customers of Fagan Construction Inc. To hire another construction firm. Please save yourself the hassle of doing business with this firm.
