Nightmare Move Rip-off mistreated and ripped off Florida

We hired Sterling Van-line for our long distance move. I must say that this was the worst moving experience for us because of the moving company. The nightmare begins with:

The company quoted something else and the amount doubled when they saw the goods even though the inventory list was exactly the same. Our goods had arrived from overseas earlier this year and were stored in a 10X10 Storage. This was told to the Sales girl who then estimated the goods to be 480 Cu feet, which means nothing to us as we don't know how much cubic feet our goods would be. We only know what do we have.

The driver said that it was a mistake of the Sales Person. It was mentioned in the Contract that we have to pay 50% at pick up and 50% on delivery. The goods were picked up. The excess baggage was charged at a higher rate than the originally quoted. The original rate was $4.25/cu feet but the excess goods were quoted for $7.00/cu feet. We debated the rate for the excess goods. We agreed that our goods are more and we could see that on the truck and agreed that it was a mistake in the original estimate but Why should we pay for the extra goods at a higher rate when it's not our mistake.

The Sales person was told that the goods are kept in 60 boxes in a 10X10 Storage. At this point, we didn't have any other choice. We were leaving the city the next day, so we let the Truck take our goods and thought that we will resolve it with the Company. The truck driver stated that he can't do much about it and we should talk to their office.

I contacted the office after reaching the Destination City. The person on the phone was extremely rude and said that that's what we have to pay. The conversation ended on a bad note. Now the Night Mare begins: When we were ready to take the delivery, we contacted the Company. Nobody knew where our goods were and how long would it take to arrive. We were asked to pay full amount in advance then only we would know the status of our goods. When we argued that the contract states that we have to pay 50% after delivery, the owner of the company said that he has changed his mind and that they will tell us about the goods only when they will receive the money.

We consulted our Attorney who first spoke to the owner of the moving company over the phone. The owner was extremely rude to the Attorney and picked up a fight with him. The Attorney, then wrote a letter to the Company. After receiving Attorney's letter, the Owner of the Company contacted us and said that he will NOT deliver our goods at all. He is sending our goods back to the Originating City and he wants us to go back and take the delivery there.

It's needless to state that all this time, we were staying in a hotel (one room) with 2 school going kids, new job. The expense, the inconvenience can be imagined. At the end, we agreed to pay in advance (as we were desperate to get our goods and start the life in a new city.

When the Company received the money, they made false promises that the goods will arrive on a certain date. We kept waiting, nobody contacted us from the Company. When we called them up, the person who picked up the phone first said "Moving Company". When we inquired about the arrival of our goods, he said that he is the cleaner and there is no-one in the office (which was quite suspicious as Cleaners don't answer the phones and the time was during the open hours on a Sunday).

We called up again after 10 minutes and asked for a sales person with whom we had dealt earlier and the person came on line...

There is more to this nightmare. Finally, goods arrived 2 days later than the promised date (6 weeks after the pick-up date). Our new VCR/DVD was missing, Glasses of our China cupboard (packed by the movers) were broken. There is no question of compensation as when we wrote to the company about the damages, there is no reply. To be frank, at this stage we don't even want to talk to them ever again...
