Ripoff screwed others too slow prossessing

Alltel shut off our phone service in July because they claimed they never recieved the payment. After talking to them they said the check must have been losted in the mail and advised that I put a stop payment on that check and send in another, which I did at a charge of $20. Oo from my bank.

After several days I still had to call customer service and have my service started again. Several months later December 24 they shut us off again. So I start looking through some of my old statements to make sure I hadn't made a mistake somewhere and I find a $50.00 adjustment for a reversed check fee. I wasn't sure what that met so I called Alltel's Customer Service to find out what it met and why they had me shut off again.

Well, between myself and my son we were on the phone with Alltel for about four hours getting tranfered from one individual to another and than back through those same individuals again. And none of them even offered to try to answer my question about the $50.00, or why I was shut off. My two year service contract with them had been up for some time now, so I was just on a month by month account status with them.

The next day my wife and I tried again to find something out and after about an hour and a couple of holds and tranfers they told us that they had posted the first check for July to our account and than recieved another check for the same months payment and posted that too. After posting both checks they than recieved the stop payment order for the first check. They credited the total of both checks to our account in August and it wasn't until October that they realized that they had shorted themselves and charged it to us.

It all boils down to this. They misplaced our payment, and shut our service off because of late payment. They have a poor customer service, and poor financial & billing departments. Each employee seemed to be well trained in tranfering and placing you on hold until you finally give up without getting anything accomplished unless you are making payment arrangements with them. When I finally found out about the $50.00 reverse check charge, I was told that someone in billing must have made a mistake, but I would still have to pay it along with a $35.00 reconect fee. So I just told them to discontinue my service altogether and send me my final statement.
Alltel had done something like this to my son recently also. They are not a good company to do business with.
