"Customer Assistance" a lying joke! DSL service Houston Texas

When I initially called AT&T in early Febrauary I spoke to a "customer service" representative. I told her that I was interested in DSL service. She asked me if I had AT&T telephone service, I said that "no" I had a cheaper service that I was content with. She then told me that "you HAVE to have AT&T telephone service to be able to get DSL". Since I thought she was telling the truth, I signed up for both AT&T telephone service and DSL (Dropped the cheaper telephone service).

I also asked her in the course of conversation, if it would be cheaper if I signed up via internet, instead of by telephone. She said "no". Do these "customer representatives" get a commission on the amount of people who sign up via telelphone rather than internet???

Since that time, I have found out, both by TV advertisments, and calling AT&T (another "customer service" rep) that the above statements are NOT TRUE!!! You do not have to have AT&T telephone service to get AT&T DSL, and it it certainly cheaper to sign up on-line!!!

I asked to speak to a "supervisor" and was told that one would have to call me back (within 24-48 hours). We'll see if I am called back... I Really want to complain about "customer services" deception!!!
