As a consumer I selected to become a subscriber for Television Programming distribution through Direct TV, as it was the only option available at my place of residence.
As a subscriber for Direct TV our contract states the following:
8. Limits on our responsibility
(a) Service Interruptions. Service may be interrupted from time to time for a variety of reasons. We are not responsible for any interruptions of Service that occur due to acts of God, power failure or any other cause beyond our reasonable control. However, because we value our customers, for an interruption of a significant length of time that is within our reasonable control, upon your request we will provide what we reasonably determine to be a fair and equitable adjustment to your account to make up for such Service interruption. THIS WILL BE YOUR SOLE REMEDY AND OUR SOLE DUTY IN SUCH CASES.

My service interruption has lasted days and days with nothing but a bouncing Direct TV logo on my screen.
Now, as a Paid Subscriber - I feel that I and my family have become addictive to TV. It is part of our daily lives.
We wake up to the news and the weather, the children wake up to their programming.
We watch the Noon news, and other programming.
We watch the News again in the afternoon, and then we watch regularly scheduled programming - that's why we pay a service fee.
Now, when service is interrupted for a period of 3 days or longer - our daily routines are affected to a level of anxiety, pain and suffering.
The extra amount of stress of having children dependent on TV and no immediate alternative to selective programming only offered by Direct TV in our location makes it truly painful to try and live a normal life, Direct TV is the supplier of programming services and when they cut off the supply - we have withdrawals.
I myself am addicted to the news and have OBAMA withdrawals if I can not watch cable news. I don't want to miss a minute of programming and find out I might vote for something that the candidate is running for or against - my personal choice to make an informed vote is being jeopardized, by the service interruption of Direct TV the supplier.
There are sporting events that are only broadcast "LIVE" and without service or the ability to record them they are missed and gone for ever - the heartache of missing the X games this weekend is killing me.
I am going crazy over the service interruption and I want to be compensated for the emotions and the pain I am going through - the mental anguish and emotional stress are turning into chest pains and headaches and I can only blame the supplier - for they have failed to deliver!
In the last few weeks we have had over 15 days of service interruption - I clearly have no other options for receipt of cable programming and live programming that I am missing - they are certainly valued more than 6 months of fees.
Pain and suffering for an entire family is horrible, and the long calls to service representatives that can barely speak English and keep you on hold for 10 times longer than what time they talk to you is also very stressful and mentally exhausting.
Direct TV has no customer service - each time you call is a different person with a different story, we have been overbilled for 6 months for charges that are not applicable as the service can not even be provided to our current location - and all we get is a partial credit, they owe us hundreds of dollars.
Direct TV has caused me and my family to suffer, mental impairment, mental anguish and emotional distress, including serious emotional distress of a severe and debilitating nature, anxiety, and loss of capacity to enjoy life."
