AT&T Wireless
Charging for "unconnected calls" without mentioning it in the contract deceptive company

Bought AT&T's "Free-To-Go" wireless package which says: "full terms and conditions included inside" (printed on the box) Terms and conditions were printed on a 2X5" paper attached to the phone card.

On the second day after purchasing the phone I found out that I was charged for an attempt to call someone who did not answer. (1 minute, $ 0.50)

Called customer service and told them that there was no connection. "No, you did indeed talk for 18 seconds, there was a connection, probably there was an answering machine"

Asked for supervisor, told him that I did not talk to anybody and that there was no answering machine. Supervisor told me that the contract says that AT&T starts to charge after 30 seconds, no matter if there is a connection or not. Told him that the terms and conditions included with the box say "For calls placed in the US you will not be charged for busy or unconnected calls if you press "end" within a reasonable time"

"you could have called us and asked, it is not my problem if you don't have a complete contract" He refused to credit the minute back to my account.

This company probably makes business by charging people who don't even know that they are charged for something what should be free. It would be easy for them to say clearly: "You are charged even if the other phone only rings after 30 seconds"

Instead they make people believe that they are not charged, if they hang up within a "reasonable time", not making it clear that "reasonable" means 30 seconds for them.

AT&T lost my business over $ 0.50 I recommend not to do business with these deceptive and arrogant jerks.
